Bridging the Ike Public Information Meeting #2
Provide feedback on design alternatives for expanded bridge decks over the I-290 expressway at a public information meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20 in the Veterans Room at the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake St.
The meeting builds on an initial public meeting held in April and will give community members a chance to see various layouts for new public spaces including plazas, park areas and potential commercial development above the expressway.
The latest design alternatives incorporate input from the previous public meeting and subsequent stakeholder group sessions to address safety, mobility, connectivity and potential uses of these new spaces.

This initial meeting serves as an opportunity to introduce the Bridging the Ike project and solicit resident feedback to understand the important issues that will help develop and refine the improvement opportunities at I-290 bridge crossings. For anyone unable to attend, public comments will be collected through May 5, 2026 at www.engageoakpark.com/ike.
