The Village is undertaking a waste characterization study with the goal of gaining important insights into the types and quantities of waste generated by Oak Park residents. A key element of the study involves gathering candid feedback from community members about existing programs and ways to improve residential waste reduction and diversion.
Residents of single-family homes and buildings with five or fewer units served by the Village’s waste hauler were encouraged to participate by completing an online survey. As an incentive, residents who completed the survey received a $10 credit toward refuse fees on their next quarterly water bill.
Feedback gathered throughout the study will help Village officials develop viable strategies for meeting the waste diversion and reduction goals spelled out in the Village’s Climate Ready Oak Park comprehensive plan. For more information, contact publicworks@oak-park.us.
